High Waves in the range of 2.0 - 2.8 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of 08-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Karnataka from Mangalore to Karwar.

Kerala coast

High Waves in the range of 2.0 – 3.0 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of 08-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Kerala from Pozhiyoor to Kasargod.

Lakshadweep Area

Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to prevail over Lakshadweep area.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.

Day 1(05-12-2019): Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to prevail over Comorin area.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into this area for the period mentioned.


 
Information on weather system:

 

The trough in easterlies extending upto 1.5 Km above mean sea level over Comorin area and

adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean persists. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form

over Maldives­Comorin areas during next 24 hours. It is likely to become more marked during

subsequent 24 hours.

 

Day 1(05-12-2019): Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to prevail over Comorin and

Maldives area.

Day 2(06-12-2019): Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to prevail over Lakshadweep

and Maldives area.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas for the period mentioned.

 

Lakshadweep: High Waves in the range of 2.3 – 3.2 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of  08-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Lakshadweep Islands from Minicoy to Bitra.

Tamil Nadu South: High Waves in the range of 2.2 – 3.3 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of 10-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Southern Tamil Nadu from Kolachal to Dhanushkodi. Kerala: High Waves in the range of 2.0 – 3.0 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of 08-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Kerala from Pozhiyoor to Kasargod.

Karnataka: High Waves in the range of 2.0 - 2.8 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 05-12-2019 to 23:30 hours of 08-12-2019 beyond 10 km off the coast of Karnataka from Mangalore to Karwar.  

SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN 

Cyclonic storm ‘Pawan’ (Pronounced as ‘Pavan’) over Southwest Arabian Sea moved nearly westwards with a speed of 22 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at 1730 hrs IST of today, the 05th December, 2019 near latitude 9.6°N and longitude 55.1°E over Southwest Arabian Sea, about 360 km south-southeast of Socotra (Yemen) and 670 km east-southeast of Bosaso (Somalia). It is very likely to maintain its intensity as a Cyclonic Storm till tomorrow morning and weaken gradually thereafter. It is very likely to move west-southwestwards during next 36 hours and cross Somalia coast as a Depression between Latitudes 07° & 08°N during 07th December morning. The Depression over Eastcentral Arabian Sea moved west-northwestwards, weakened into a well marked low pressure area and lay over eastcentral Arabian Sea & neighbourhood at 1730 hours IST of today, the 05th December 2019.

 

Wind warning:

Southwest Arabian Sea and along & off Somalia Coast: Gale wind, speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph, is prevailing around the system centre over southwest Arabian Sea which is very likely to continue during next 12 hours. It is very likely to decrease gradually becoming, squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph, from the forenoon of 06th December for subsequent 06 hours and decrease further thereafter.

Eastcentral Arabian Sea :

Strong wind, speed reaching 20-30 kmph gusting to 40 kmph, likely to prevail around the system centre over Eastcentral Arabian Sea during next 12 hours and decrease gradually thereafter.

Sea conditions:

Southwest Arabian Sea and along & off Somalia Coast: Very Rough to High Sea Conditions are likely to prevail over Southwest Arabian Sea during next 12 hours. It is very likely to improve gradually becoming very rough from tomorrow forenoon for subsequent 06 hours and improve further thereafter.

Eastcentral Arabian Sea:

Rough Sea conditions are very likely to prevail over Eastcentral Arabian Sea during next 12 hours and improve thereafter.

Southwest Arabian Sea and along & off Somalia Coast: The fishermen are advised not to venture into southwest Arabian Sea and along & off Somalia coast during next 02 days.
